About me
Luiza Cascon
Hello, my name is Luiza, but you can also call me Lua. I was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1987 and have been living in Lisbon since 2017. I am a performing artist, massage therapist and doula.
I studied at the School of Fine Arts at UFRJ and then graduated in Dance at Faculdade Angel Vianna. I began studying Ayurvedic Massage in 2016. In 2021 I trained as a Doula at Materlua, in Sintra.
My MASSAGE is based on Abhyanga, which is a holistic massage derived from the teachings of Ayurveda. It is a therapeutic full-body massage made with heated natural oils.
Since 2018 I have worked as a massage therapist at all editions of the Boom and Being Gathering festivals. In 2024, I also facilitated a workshop for families in which adults and children created spaces for dialogue and reflection on emotions and relationships, through a word games.
Between 2015 and 2017, I taught dance and body expression classes for children and adolescents.
As a DOULA, since 2021, I have been supporting pregnant people and families during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum through information, listening, and emotional and physical support.
The care of the soul and the body are present in everything I do.
For me, DANCE is much more than learning techniques; it is a practice of self-knowledge and self-care, it is a process of healing and liberation. And my classes arise from the desire to share a vision of dance and movement that transformed my life.
And I bring this from my training, where I learned about somatic practices and body awareness. But mainly from what I learned on the dance floor, at street parties and by experiencing the rituals of celebration as a therapeutic and magical process.
Between 2021 and 2024 I taught and coordinated the dance group of the carnival collective Colombina Clandestina in Lisbon.
As a performer I participated in the creation of musical shows for the PLANO V project with Joana Dágua, between 2020 and 2023. I participated in music videos by artists Marta Miranda, Victoria de Angelis and Anitta, and in the film "Greice" by Leonardo Mouramateus.
I have been involved in artistic projects with the creators Tino Sehgal, Gustavo Ciríaco, Sara Anjo, Michelle Moura, Renan Martins, Maria Elvira Machado, Shereya, Andrei Bessa, Analu Fretta and Associação Parasita.
I have been part of the Ballroom community in Lisbon since 2019 and vogue is one of my expressions of movement. Besides being a performer I also contributed to the scene as a DJ and event organizer.
PELVIC DANCE was created in 2020, after two years of work on the Raba Power project in partnership with Flora Mariah.
It is a dance class focused on awareness and mobility of the PELVIS. The pelvic area holds many memories and emotions. And through energetic activation, in a safe space to experiment, transformation can happen and reverberate not only in movement and dance but in our lives as a whole: in the way we feel present and connected with our bodies, and how we relate to others and in the community.
Since the year of 2024 I started collaborating as a creative member and artistic director of Campus WOB, a summer camp for kids and teens in Málaga, Spain.
